Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's first Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment in 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was always changing jobs during Corcoran's entire life. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran says her father was a drunken man who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
